The proposed data centre forms part of a renewal for the site and is set to be a transformative project positioning the region as a leading hub for innovation and data management. Location

Planning Pathway

The development is eligible for approval through the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP)  Development Facilitation Program (DFP).

 

This is an accelerated assessment pathway for eligible projects that make a significant contribution towards the Victorian economy, and provide substantial public benefit including keeping people in jobs.  

All applications lodged to the DTP will be determined by the Minister for Planning or the Department of Transport and Planning under delegation. 

Timeline

Late 2025 / Early 2026

Preparation of a series of detailed designs and technical assessments to accompany the planning application. These outline any potential impacts and recommend ways to manage or mitigate those impacts.

May 2026 – We are here

Zerra has submitted a planning application with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). The community will be formally invited to provide feedback to DTP as part of the public notice period. Zerra will also be seeking feedback on the proposal through a range of engagement activities.

Mid 2026

Zerra DC is expecting a determination within 4 months of lodging the application with DTP.

Mid to late 2026

Subject to obtaining the necessary approvals, Zerra would commence construction for Stage 1.
